Quick n Easy Snacks

StartFragment

We say we have cravings. I NEED something salty. I NEED something sweet, or crunchy or tart. What if we tell our bodies what we need? Tonight I was feeling munchy and could have eaten a whole red bowl full of popcorn. The red bowl is our signature popcorn bowl. It holds 15 cups and is great for snapping beans from the garden . But my husband claimed it for popcorn and we fill it at least once a week with stove-top popped popcorn. That's all I wanted for our lazy Saturday evening snack. But I knew I would wake up bloated and swollen from all the salt and 3 pounds heavier from all the carbs. So, I told my body if it is so determined to have snackish food, it may have crunchy veggies and salty cheese. After eating my fill I feel satisfied and my craving is gone.

You are stronger than you think, guys! Believe in your goals and do not break the promises you make to yourself. Live with passion and develop mental strength. The battle is won in the mind.

So without farther delay, here are my 3 favorite snacks to ward off hunger and cravings. The kids love them too. Make them ahead of time and put them in the fridge. It will take all the frustration out of always hearing the little voices in your house saying "mama, I hun-gy".

1.) Fruit! All the fruit! I wash it as soon as I bring it home from the store. The kids can grab it whenever they want. I keep a big bowl of apples and oranges and bananas on the counter top. It's so pretty too so it's part of my decor.

2.) Cheese and crackers. It's cheaper to by store brand blocks of cheese and slice them yourself. I keep a bag in the fridge drawer of sliced cheese and pull it out when everyone is having a hard time waiting through the long hours between lunch and supper. Another way to stave off the salty/crunchy craving is to toast the cheese slices on a piece of wax paper in the oven till it's bubbly and a little brown on top. Let it cool and peel it off. Suddenly you have cheese crackers that are perfectly healthy. Bonus tip: You can even dip them in hummus for added protein.

3.) And my favorite since it is conducive with the Keto diet, is raw veggies. My kids actually prefer their veggie raw over cooked so it's a win-win for both of us. I pair it with this A-mazing Ranch that is made with all healthy ingredients and NO MSG.

It's as simple and 1-2-3 guys! Leave the chips and snacks in the store and ONLY bring home the good stuff. That will keep the temptations away. Take an hour to pre-wash and slice the fruits, veggies and cheese and your snackish moments will have no control over you when they hit. Remember, you tell your body what it needs! Happy snacking-
